The alchemy of Intelligence. – The clue to evolution!

Abstract. Blue. Sun. Dark. Pink. God.

What do the above words have in common?

Think.

No? Come on. One more shot. Try Harder.

Ok. The only thing they have in common is ‘Nothing’.

And that brings me to describe this very important seemingly stupid exercise of ‘thinking’. Now for the nanoseconds you spent up there searching for some connection between those cute words, the one super-power you tapped into is un-commonly referred to as ‘Intelligence’.

Discrimination. Reason. Logic. Rationality. Deduction. Noetic-ism*.

*Apologies to Grammatical Puritans – Call me - Ill buy you a mocktail.

The human being, ladies and gentleman, is blessed. Ability, it has been gifted, to think, to question, to adjudicate on everything in and around it, right from the bacteria buried deep in Antarctica, to the thoughts bulleting across your mind’s eye, while you read this sophisticated scrap.

The enabler of this incredible ability - is ‘Intelligence’

So what? Big Deal. My neighbor has it! The hot guy who wrote this has it! Everyone who will never read this have it!

True. Very. But the big deal about this ability is that it is variant. It is individual. It isn’t a calculator that can be used to its fixed optimum by every one who wants and knows how to. It is subjective. It is an enabler, maximizable to its unlimited extreme, by its owner, its user. There are not limits, for there is no limiting factor. Unlike a calculator, it is not bound by forces of matter. It can be harnessed and nurtured to your own subjective extreme.
It is what one can call, a ‘White hole’- i.e. the attributal* antonym of the all limiting - ‘Black hole’.

*oops – sorry again. call me..ya.

And that, my dear sleepy reader, is the clue to evolution. That is why you are sitting, reading and cursing this piece, fondling a machine zillion times faster, efficient and powerful that you would ever be. It doesn’t have the Power? Oh it does. But does it have the ability?

Think.

You’ll get your answer. Coz you can.

Notes:- ‘Intelligence is an umbrella term used to describe a property of the mind that encompasses many related abilities, such as the capacities to reason, to plan, to solve problems, to think abstractly, to comprehend ideas, to use language, and to learn. There are several ways to define intelligence. In some cases, intelligence may include traits such as creativity, personality, character, knowledge, or wisdom. However there is no agreement on which traits define the phenomenon of intelligence agreed upon by a majority across the various concerned disciplines.’

Happy Derivatives!

Ego, Mind, Self. Volatility, Derivatives, Underlying. Don’t sync do they. Well I bother you today to sneak in my little theory on why they do!

For those of you who do not happen to understand financial derivatives don’t need to leave or at least not yet. Financial derivatives very simply explained are children of a parent called the underlying, which behave in accordance with their parents, but like all children, the extremity of their behavior is based on how they themselves choose to respond to changes in other variables.

Now let us switch over. The mind here, is the individual we perceive ourselves to be. The individual that reads, sleeps, eats, thinks, does, thinks etcetera. The ego, is the entity which deludes us from the self. The one who works overtime to maintain our feeling of separate-ness, of being limited, finite. The self, finally is the root, the real us, the universal, infinite, total, the basic and fundamental us, which although impacts the ego and mind, but is not itself impacted by them.

So what my rusted mind finds here in the above two paragraphs is a similarity between a highly interesting mathematical, financial and what not-cial concept of a ‘Derivate’ and the factual structure of the human mind and function.

Consider this, that the mind(derivative) is understood to be a reflection of the self (underlying), a derived one, in nature being similar to the attributes of the self (market price of the underlying) but at the same time, making its own choices and acting on its own, its actions being impacted by the ego(Volatility) of objects (variable factors).

Phew! So? Well, this wasn’t intended to be a ‘So- ish’ theory, but nonetheless, I think that somewhere in the way we live our lives, in the things we do or create or deal with, all of them have got something to do with the way we are, our essence, our structure, our self!

For those who didn’t read : )

The Hunt for Happiness!

(Slow Reading. That should do the trick : )

Smoke. Food. Music. Lust. Love. Something odd? Re-read it. Oh! The last one? Hmmm. Objects! Tools of the mind. Screens for apparent happiness. Channels of Joy. But joy itself?

The mind of a being, it is understood, is in search of the being. The being! The endless beginning. The empty fullness. The start of time. Whole. ‘I’. The mind, then it seems, is desperate to reclaim what it lacks. Happiness! full and permanent, unending, complete, maximum.
However pure may its desire be, the mind, by the doing of its own rules, is corruptible. It desires, and it fulfills. To what extent? Is a question that only the mind can answer.

Your mind.

The objects spelled above, are but a para in the long list of devices that the mind feverishly seeks its precious in. Is there a list? Haha! I don’t know, but is it big? Most Certainly! And does the mind succeed in its virginal desires? With this list, it doesn’t stand a dying chance. For the Creator of ‘1’, cannot seek a ‘0’. For it is roped in the rules it creates. The rules that define it. The rules that bring it into existence. That mothers it. In the rules it is. Ironical? Most Certainly!

It does come close though. You guessed it right! Love. For other beings. For there is something about this love, that makes the mind believe, temporally though, that the end is near. That the purest desire has been unlocked. That bliss unending will trickle eternally, into the pool of joy. There is something about this object. Another Mind! Another seeker of happiness! Another Being! Questions stand reconciled. Logic seems proven. Individualities seem perfect. But is the problem solved?

Time tells. And harshly it does. Temporality shines through this cloud of promised permenance. The head boy, with a bowed head, now stands parallel with other objects the mind looks last towards. Logic reveals its fallibility. Objects, one by one, break down and silently confess that though they tried their best, they remain chained in their individualities and impermanence. In moments they change, they sneer at the mind for expecting them to do what they know not. To be what they are not.

It is then, only after the most beloved object has sagged its shoulders, that the mind stops analyzing. For analyzing has brought it doom. Desire has brought it more desire, with bacterial effects. It withdraws in itself. Sits in a corner, sobs silently, incessantly, trying to understand what went wrong? Who is to blame? What is the repair? But then gives up and shifts its glance, to find the smartly dressed ego, looking at it with kind eyes. In the calm eyes of the ego, it finds its answer. It was always there. It is fated for those who believe in fate. That suffering is inevitable. It is but a ladder to Joy! It is mandatory for those who want to understand the worth of bliss.

It smiles and so does the ego. For now they know that to get to the end, they need to start from the beginning. Being!

For the ego, who plays the perfect tricks, with the worst of intentions, but the best of results.

Unsplit Beings

(Please read the Prelude & Intent before reading the content. I also recommend that the reader reads it as slowly as possible, interpreting the gravity of each word)

The Beginning of Time.
Energy & Space & Light. Not Born yet.
Being. Unborn.

Split.

Inarticulate white sands mush with their feet. Their bodies are in definitive. Not formed fully. Shapes are unclear. Eyes are unformed. Moments from the first Sunrise. They face each other. Standing. Naked.

Distance exists. They move towards each other, without effort. They see without light. Their undistracted vision merges into each other. Distance recedes. Bodies become fuller. Nearer now. Nearly time. They’re full, almost. Embrace tightens. Lips touch.

Lips don’t part. Bodies Full. Sunrise. He’s facing it. Wave’s splash. Soft White Sand stretching for miles, dries their feet. Palm trees shade them. Lips don’t part.

Energies switch. One cracked in two. Dissolve in both. Different as two, but same as one. Lips don’t part.

Minds open. Lips part. Eyes don’t.

Light. Born
Space. Born.
Energy. Born
Time. Born.

Being. Unborn.

Prelude:-
The story goes that at the beginning of time, what existed was only pure being. God(The being) then, to enjoy his Leela (Divine blissful play) split being into two, that of a Girl and that of a Boy…and now..unless they are reunited, pure being (the highest happiness) cannot be reachieved.

Intent:-
Describe the creation of time and splitting of beings. Will cover the reuniting of beings in my subsequent blogs.

For Granger & her boy, and the events that edified us : )

Suffering and the Soul

It is strange how this happened, but it did. It has been almost six years now. Six years, since the mind, prescient of its self limitations, resolved to strive constantly towards a nebulous frame of happiness. This wasn’t difficult. At least not in the evenings. Such desire seemed natural. Like it was ‘the thing’. The answer to all problems. It was like calling the bluff on suffering. And it worked. Detachment helped. The mind calmed. Desires vanished, and thoughts were controlled.

But somehow, in the strangest of ways, the ego kept responding to this suicidal mission. It worked efficiently. Like all successful decision makers, it concentrated on long term factors. It did not believe in just ‘getting back’. It invested in developing desires, which it knew the seeker will take passionately and is innocently addicted to. It identified objects that were dear to me, or qualities of the object that my mind would be affectionate with. Spiritual effort was continuous, but not complete. The ego got its chances, in bits and pieces though, but it did, and it struck.

These years were wonderful. They kept getting better. As and as effort matured and stretched, joy of being shined forth progressively. Effort, because of the reward involved, kept getting easier, and over time, semi permanence was achieved. The best thing was that the effort did not look to supersede happiness over suffering, nor did it try to evade or shovel suffering out. It hit at the root, and that of existence and reality of suffering, and thankfully it succeeded, big time.

The ego hadn’t succumbed, not yet. It countered this threat, by developing desires, in the form of objects that were dear to the mind. It was slow and patient. Outnumbered by higher efforts of the mind, it would glean thoughts and desires. Collect them and hibernate in the corners of the mind, waiting for opportune moments. The natural countering mechanism was always in place. It worked by itself. Years of control had ensured that. It was only the ambitious plans that the ego had to strive for.

The challenge was interesting. On one hand was the passion of evolution and on the other was the ability of survival. Games were played and played well they were. In a few instances, the ego managed to champion the efforts of the mind. It managed to, temporarily though; make the mind to believe in its unreal limitations. In those moments of weakness, emptiness of emotions would strike at the concepts that the mind was happily proud of. In that period of torment, the ego, would somehow, gain temporary control of the apparatus. Intelligence and emotions, would both team up to spear happiness, repeatedly, in these moments of riot. It does not pain, as in physically. It’s about crashing of all the dreams and expectations that were built over time. It’s about suddenly being aware that all the buckets of desire that you were to pour on you head and enjoy sublime happiness, were empty and would forever be so. It’s about the slow and frequent breaking of the conceptions the mind had developed over time, being dreamily made to believe their potential for joy. It’s like watching investments crash overnight. The investments made with years of conservative living, soothing temptations with dreamy thoughts of the future, in which the return would be relished and scars made by years of denial would be instantly healed. Well, it’s not exactly the same thing, but very near in intensity of the experience.

So that’s how the ego did it. Suffering visited, mostly, with minimal and declining intensity. However, in opportune times as elaborated above, it would ambush the mind, with its seemingly unending reserves of what i can only call units of suffering (uos). However, no matter, how hard it hit, the desire for desirelessness did not succumb. The ego was playing a game it was fated to lose. The mind, soon after such events, would cry and kneel, seeking benevolence of the being for healing the loss of faith the ego had made believe it into. And it would relent, for it is not subject to the limitations and restrictions that the ego is circled with. It would heal, swiftly and wholly, for it is based in reality and permanence and it grants all things the ego promises and so much more.

So the seeker continues, treading on the road to joy, decelerated by the ego, with its tricks and devices and temptations of another road, but both continue nonetheless, inwardly curious of how easy each step to the source becomes. And finally they reach, and face the being, look at it with awe, and bow their heads. It is then that the mind turns happily to the ego on its right, surprised to not find it there, and then raises a finger to touch itself, only to be surprised again.
